The Masurian Cycling Loop
– The most beautiful places along the route

In our guide, we’ve compiled the most atmospheric spots scattered around the „Masurian Circle”: from lake views and forest trails, to peaceful harbors and lookout points, all the way to places perfect for watching the sunset or enjoying spontaneous family outings. This is a list of the most beloved spots that many people return to every season – including the employees of Continental Opony Polska themselves. See if you recognize them, and if not, be sure to visit them on your next trip:

Short activities to do along the way

  • Giżycko Swing Bridge
  • Boyen Fortress, Giżycko
  • Promenade along Lake Ryńskie
  • Boat cruise from Mikołajki on Lake Śniardwy
  • Kadzidłowo Wildlife Park
  • Guzianka Lock

How well do you know Polish lakes?

Masuria isn’t just about beautiful views – it’s also home to hundreds of stories, interesting facts, and places that have been attracting travelers from all over Poland for years. As part of the „Together we move forward” project, we’ve teamed up with Onet Podróże to create a special quiz that will test your knowledge of Polish lakes, towns in Masuria, and slow travel.

Where the road meets nature

The route that connects Giżycko, Mrągowo, Mikołajki, Ruciane-Nida, Pisz, and Ełk is often called by cyclists the „Masurian Circle”. The Masurian Cycling Loop winds through hundreds of kilometers of curves, forest sections, and quiet roads near lakes and beautiful landscapes. So, of course, it had to be included in our travel guidebook „Together we move forward”.

Masuria district (polish called „Mazury”) can change from kilometer to kilometer. Dry asphalt gives way to gravel roads or damp surfaces near the lakes. It is on routes like these that you really feel that safety isn’t just an afterthought, but an integral part of the journey – including when it comes to cycling. Thanks to their diversity and proximity to nature, the roads of Masuria encourage you to slow down and discover the joy of being out on a bike trail.

Recommended viewpoints

  • The pier in Mrągowo
  • The Niegocin observation tower
  • The observation tower in Stare Juchy

Perfect spots to watch the sunset

  • St. Bruno Hill, Giżycko
  • Łuknajno Observation Point
  • Ruciane-Nida Port and Observation Tower

What do Mazury and Continental have in common? Confidence on any surface

The Masurian Loop is a route that best illustrates that a good trip starts with confidence on the road. Forest sections, road surfaces that change with the weather, long curves between lakes, as well as serpentine turns and kilometers of peaceful but gravel roads – all of these make comfort, traction, and safety particularly important for cycling trips here.

Tire pressure How do you determine the correct tire pressure for a bicycle?

The trails in Masuria can vary from kilometer to kilometer – from asphalt to gravel and forest paths, all the way to wet surfaces near the lakes. That’s why proper tire pressure has a huge impact on riding comfort, traction, and control over the bike. Keep in mind, however, that tire pressure depends on the tire’s width – the wider the tire, the lower the pressure needed (since the tire contains more air). You should also check the sidewall of the tire, where you’ll find information about the permissible or recommended tire pressure.

Passion for bicycles in Poland and... France

Passion for bicycles in Poland and… France

Cycling has been an important part of Continental’s business for years. The brand develops technologies for both amateur and professional cycling, and in 2026, it will once again serve as the official partner of the world’s largest cycling race – the Tour de France. It is on Continental tires that riders from the world’s top teams compete, covering thousands of kilometers of mountain climbs, fast descents, and challenging stages.

Continental at a key moment of the race

Continental is also one of the official sponsors of the race’s winner’s prizes. As part of the partnership, the company’s logo will appear on the medals presented to riders during the awards ceremony, highlighting the brand’s presence during one of the event’s most prestigious moments.

As a brand that believes in great sporting talent, Continental has also been supporting Tadej Pogačar since last season – a multiple Tour de France winner and brand ambassador who, like Continental, is committed to combining top performance, continuous development, and road safety.

Technology ready for Masurian conditions

Modern Continental bicycle tires are designed to provide stability and control regardless of the type of terrain or weather conditions. A key factor is the carefully designed tread pattern, which enhances traction on both paved roads and more challenging off-road sections. The special groove design helps effectively drain water and mud, improving handling confidence when riding on wet or shaded sections of the trail.

Stability, comfort, and confidence on the road

The sidewall construction and rubber compound are also crucial, as they influence the bike’s stability in corners and riding comfort during longer trips. This allows cyclists to tackle the Masurian loops with greater confidence: whether on leisurely rides around the lakes or on multi-kilometer trips with panniers or heavier luggage.

The Masurian Cycling Loop — an active weekend among lakes and the most scenic routes of Masuria

The Masurian Cycling Loop is a loop of approximately 250–300 kilometers that passes through Giżycko, Mrągowo, Mikołajki, Ruciane-Nida, Pisz, and Ełk – some of the most picturesque places in the Polish Masuria region. Covering the entire route can take up to several days, but the journey includes numerous stops at lakes, scenic overlooks, and local restaurants, making it the perfect way to spend an active weekend.
